GREIB SERIAL INTERNATIONAL SEMINARS

The Granada Research of Excellence Initiative on BioHealth (GREIB) is a new created high-competitive project of the University of Granada (UGR) funded by the Campus of International Excellence of the Ministry of Science and Innovation (Class B, R+D+I – Top Research Areas).

GREIB main objective is to create a BioHealth framework in the city of Granada leading ultimately to the promotion of the UGR as an international reference in the BioHealth field. GREIB strategic plan features as a top priority the incorporation of all concerned stakeholders, comprising both public and private players, within the Granada area. The program supports the organization of biomedical seminars of international impact by researchers of BioHealth groups. These seminars should be developed in such a way that there is a continuity in time rather than being one-off events.

Program specifications

  • The aim of the GREIB-SIS program is to foster the organization of biomedical seminars of international impact by researchers of BioHealth groups. These seminars should be developed in such a way that there is a continuity in time rather than being one-off events.
  • The applications will be evaluated by the GREIB steering committee.
  • The deadline for applications will be November 15, 2010.
  • The seminar series must be conducted between January 1 and December 31, 2011.
  • Funding is limited by available resources and will be awarded to a maximum of 10.000 euros.

Applicant requirements

All applicants must:

  • Belong to one of the BioHealth research groups of the UGR and of aggregated institutions (public and/or private) that apply in coordination with researchers of the UGR.
  • Write a 20 pages (maximum length) proposal about the proposal. This should contain a timeline plan and justify the continuity of the seminars. It must also be precise in terms of scientific objectives, organization and budget.
  • A provisional program, including the list of invited speakers, starting and finishing times of the seminars.
  • The applicants must fulfill the application form and send it with the required documentation, as indicated below.

Selection Criteria

  • Adequacy of the criteria to justify the continuity and overall impact of the seminar series
  • CV of the applicant
  • Quality and excellence of the participants

In case of support

Applicants who get support have to:

  • Be aware that funding depends on the realization of the tentative program.
  • The meeting should be clearly identified as a GREIB event, in particular by including the GREIB logo and announcing the meeting as a ‘GREIB Series Seminar on …’ in any advertisements, posters, websites, abstracts, proceedings, etc. Additional support from other organizations should also be acknowledged.
  • A concise report of the scientific output of the workshop, as well as a financial report on workshop expenditure must be submitted within one month after the event.
