GREIB AWARDS TO RESEARCH INTERNATIONALIZATION AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH

The Granada Research of Excellence Initiative on BioHealth (GREIB) is a new created high-competitive project of the University of Granada (UGR) funded by the Campus of International Excellence of the Ministry of Science and Innovation (Class B, R+D+I – Top Research Areas).

GREIB main objective is to create a BioHealth framework in the city of Granada leading ultimately to the promotion of the UGR as an international reference in the BioHealth field. GREIB strategic plan features as a top priority the incorporation of all concerned stakeholders, comprising both public and private players, within the Granada area. The program is aimed at fostering the excellence in research that bridges the gap between basic and applied biomedical research and/or excels in international collaboration in biomedical science.

Program specifications

  • The aim of GREIB-AWARD is to promote translational research and internationalization of R+D activities by GREIB research groups by public recognition of initiatives of outstanding value carried out by their researchers.
  • Each initiative will be evaluated in terms of excellence and impact, and will be represented by a principal investigator, normally as leader of a group.
  • These awards (one for internationalization and one for translational research) will be given yearly, with 6,000 euros.
  • The applications will be evaluated by the GREIB steering committee.
  • Applications may be submitted before November 15, 2010 (and 2011). However, the steering committee may select initiatives freely. Also, the prizes may be left unawarded.

Applicant requirements

All applicants must:

  • Belong to one of the BioHealth research groups of the UGR and of aggregated institutions (public and/or private) that apply in coordination with researchers of the UGR.
  • Write a 2 pages (maximum length) proposal about the initiative, with emphasis on its overall impact and excellence, compared to the state of the art.
  • Submit CV for the researchers presenting the application.
  • The applicants must fulfill the application form and send it with the required documentation, as indicated below.

Selection Criteria

  • Scientific quality and potential impact of the initiative.
  • CV of the researcher/research group

Applicants who get support have to:

  • Acknowledge financial support by GREIB (CEB-005) in the CV.
